I looked up at the stout lady entering the train with her kids. No, the question was not to me, she was looking at someone sitting behind me. "No", came the reply from two rows behind me. She took a seat just across the aisle from me.
I turned my attention back to my newspaper. People were slowly pouring in, and everyone entering the compartment were confronted with the same query, " Do you know when does the Commonwealth bank closes. 4 or 4:30. ".
"I dont know"
"I think 4:30, but i'm not sure"
"Nah, i think it closes at 4"
"No clue"
Someone entered the compartment through the door at the other end. Lady stood up and called out to the guy at the other end of the compartment. " Do you know, when Commonwealth closes. ?".
"No". He shouted back.
15 out of 16 people in that compartment were bothered about , when Commonwealth closes. I'm just an Indian guy , reading an english newspaper, who doesn't understand english and who will definitely not know when Commonwealth closes.
Train started moving and soon i reached my destined station. I got out of the train and walked off into the crowd, thinking, ''Let that be my silence to racism".
